“Please” and “Thank you” are the Magic Words

Do you remember when you were first told to say “Please” “Thank you” to someone?

For me, I can’t remember.  It must have when I was  very young.   Or during a time when I repeated EVERYTHING that I was told to say.

For others,  It was a one of those moments when we may not rememvber exactly why we said it..but the feeling of saying “Please” or “Thank You” put a magicalical moment in us.

For me, I remember the smiles and warm feelings from saying it. It was as if I did something BIG.  For others, it may have been a sign of acknowledgement, giving a someone a trophy of honor that they are appreciated.

Whatever it did for us, we continue to keep this humble baton close.  It is truly one of the most powerful words in the dictionary  of life.

Say it often, keep its power…and apply it to your own life..

Say Please to yourself when you know you are resisting a issue .  Say THANK YOU when you did that “thing” you had no understanding of why you did it…

IT is the substance of things ….

Build a BRIDGE and get over it!

I remember the first time I heard that statement…”Build a bridge and get over it”.  I was working as a  mental health therapist for an outpatient clinic her on the South side of Chicago.  Kevin, (our support staff ) was a “TRUE” Chicagoan!   A ex-gang member, with a no-nonsense time of persona.  I often asked him for help with things or help in the office.  I can’t remember what I was asking for that day ( of if I was complaining about something personal ….lol).  Either way, he looked at me, and said the words that I kept close to this day “Build a BRIDGE and Get OVER IT”!

I laughed..but I felt what he was saying…..

You see, In life we have those times when we feel stuck!  It may be a situation that broke our heart, a failed expectation or just something that has us wondering about the “what if’s”.

I never was involved in building a bridge, but I can only imagine how complex, thoughtful and time-consuming it can be.  Just think!  One brick after another after another.  Day after day, with the goal of getting to another side.

If you really think about it, we are building a bridge EVERY DAY!  maybe it’s that goal of losing weight?  Or, it could be that new job or skill?  One thing is for sure-we all have a bride we are building.

The reality is that if you building a bridge, it must be completed!  Have you ever seen an incomplete  bridge?  I would imagine it would look like a rainbow.. cut off!  LOL

Yes, that would probable have you saying…WTF is that?

But most bridges are completed with a start and end.  The most magical one that I have experienced are over a river or some time of stream.  Keeping us safe from the tides below.

Whatever your bridge may be…build it day by day.  Keep your eyes on the other SIDE!

It is the substance of things HOPED for!

I don’t know how to do this!!! ………………. (but something INSIDE ME does)

Ok,  One thing for CERTAIN and two things for SURE– we will ALL face a new challenge in our life .  Point blank, Period!

Most often, it is unexpected (coming when we have a MILLION things going on)  or, it may show up as planned, but not as expected.  Raise your hand if you can relate!

For me, I find these moments to be a Substance of Things Hoped For!  The time in life when a little “inside voice” gets to have center stage and guide me to what I am really wanting…or in other words, what I am Hoping for!

So, I started this blog to talk, share and discuss our own divine substance.   The thing that makes this blog so GREAT is that I don’t know how to do this…but something inside me does.  Join me on this Journey!  #thesubstanceofthingshopedfor
